Is it time for Janitorial Supply Software?

Since our ERP consulting team at Optimize Our Inventory worked as light manufacturers and distributors in the past, we understand the challenges faced by a growing janitorial and sanitary supply company. Our consulting firm draws on our experience to help growing distributors and light manufacturers improve their supply chain management and we love working with janitorial suppliers. Do any of these points below apply you?

7 reasons to evaluate janitorial supply software

  1. Tracking orders manually - If you manually track orders you may use a program such as Excel. It is difficult to deal with the issue of items being out of stock. You need to wait until the stock is replenished and manually enter the order at that time.
  2. Inventory tracking - It is difficult for you to track in other ways than individual items, such as grouping them together as lots or kits, or multiple configurations. You need to track by serial number and are unable to assign individual units of measure.
  3. Manually tracking inventory costs - You need to manually track inventory costs through a manual process. You cannot track costs of inventory in and out of the warehouse at different costs and cannot change cost methods.
  4. Manually tracking inventory levels - You have to wait until the order is filled and then manually update inventory. That gives an inaccurate picture of inventory levels.  If you have to manually provide updates/transactions to inventory items when items are purchased, received or returned. That gives an inaccurate picture of inventory levels.
  5. Backorders - You manually track orders and lack an efficient method of processing back orders. You need to wait until the stock is replenished and then manually enter the order at that time. It is difficult to keep track of which customers still need orders filled.
  6. Don't know what to purchase - Too much of your inventory is inaccurate and it is difficult to determine what to purchase. You do not do a physical cycle count often enough, and the delta between actual inventory is too high of a percentage.
  7. Inaccurate item availability - All too often, the system says you have something that you don’t.  This is not only a hassle but may be the cause of lost customers.
