6 Steps to a Successful ERP Implementation Strategy

These 6 steps represent the methodology and milestones of an ERP implementation with ACC Accounting Solutions. Choosing an ERP system that meets your specific business requirements will help to facilitate a smooth implementation. However, choosing the right system is only half the battle. A well designed, strategic implementation is the key to success.

1. Discovery and Planning 
 

Any successful ERP implementation begins during the sales process with a thorough evaluation of requirements and an ERP selection process. It continues with post-sales planning. n internal transition occurs between the professional services consultant and project manager to discuss the scope of the upcoming implementation. The project team will be created, an initial discovery meeting and procedure review will enable the team to identify current issues and potential solutions. Your ERP consultants and your internal implementation team then meets with you in a kickoff meeting to discuss the project implementation and review your time and attendance rules and policies. Together, we create a strategic plan which will guide the rest of the project.
 
2. Setup, Configuration and Data Collection
 
 
Based on the kickoff meeting, ACC begins setup and configuration of your system. We host web meetings to review progress and gather additional information. After configuration is complete, ACC provides a final pre-installation meeting to review configuration, discuss employee security, and map out the plan for the post installation pilot group testing. ACC then installs the pre-configured application. Once installation is complete, ACC works with your pilot group to begin collecting data to be used for training. Data should be analyzed to determine which information should be converted and define new data that needs to be collected.
 
3. Training is Important - A full day of training is provided for your system administrator(s) first. Supervisor training follows next and may be broken into multiple sessions over 1-2 days per module – depending on the number of supervisors you would like to train. Typically supervisor training includes a “train-the-trainer” component to prepare managers to provide direct end-user (employee) training, but you may also choose for ACC to provide end-user training.
 
 
4. Testing - ACC tries to reduce the amount of parallel testing period required, but generally two parallel periods should be expected. The first testing period is typically for optimization of rules, security, ad policy calculations. The second (if needed), is to ensure all staff are fully trained and ready for finalization of the solution. After testing is complete, your solution is live.
