8 Essential Features for Warehouse Management in Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Microsoft_Dynmics_NAV_Warehouse_Management_2Microsoft Dynamics NAV: Warehouse Management

Microsoft Dynamics NAV is the quintessential solution for complete enterprise management of your entire supply chain and reporting. Microsoft Dynamics NAV features 8 essential functions for warehouse management which serve to deliver a thorough and efficient flow of inventory.  From start to finish, Dynamics NAV has tools for every step of warehouse management.

  1. Automated Data Capture System (ADCS): Even in the most hectic environment, ADCS simplifies the accurate and automatic organization of data.  From the moment an item is entered into the system, it can be tracked and its location is accounted for within the Warehouse Management System.  Workflows will be supported by ADCS as they allow for seamless workflows into warehouse automation.
  2. Bin Set Up:  Microsoft Dynamics NAV makes it simple to set up and maintain bins as it allows you the ability to define the layout of your warehouse and assign customized dimensions of racks, columns and shelved, rather than adjusting your planning parameters to meet limitations and characteristics of each bin.
  3. Manage Cycle Counting:  Verifying inventory record data has an increased accuracy with the ability to set up cycle counting on the item or SKU level.
  4. Put Away:  Simplify the process of warehouse releases for order-by-order environments: a Put Away has a separate user interface made for receiving items outside of the release order.  This function enables the warehouse employee to create a put away order which is outside of the release order.
  5. Pick:  This feature gives warehouse workers the ability to pick from a released order, and is managed by a separate interface when shipping in an order-by-order environment.
  6. Stock-Keeping Units:  Manage your own stock-keeping units (SKUs). You can assign identical items with the same item number so they can be stored in different locations and managed individually at each location. Add details such as cost prices, replenishment, manufacturing information, and so on, based on the location.
  7. Warehouse Receipt:  This function makes is easy for warehouse workers to create a put-away from the receipt.  Warehouse Receipt is managed from a separate user interface when receiving items in a multi-order environment.
  8. Warehouse Management Systems:  Gives you the capability to manage items on a bin level. Receive and put away items in a bin; pick items from a bin according to a put-away template; and pick items based on the zone and bin ranking. Optimize the space usage and the picking process by using a report to move items between bins, or there is also the option to move items manually. Warehouse instruction documents are created for the pick and put-away process, which can be carried out for sales, purchase, transfers, returns, and production orders.

Greater agility and efficiency can be increased, extending the warehouse functionality, by selecting a robust Warehouse Management System to integrate with NAV, such as AccellosOne WMS.  AccellosOne Warehouse Management Systems for Dynamics NAV (plus other ERP systems) has even more ways and options to control the movement of inventory with such features as:
